This coupling of smalls books, each 5.5 in x 3.25 in, depicts the violence of the atom bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
The white book, dubbed “Heaven” has figures printed on velum to create an ephemeral effect through layering. The black book,
dubbed “Earth” depicts the locations of the images with the figures cut out. The images have a snapshot aesthetic of tourists photography,
to present a natural image of Japanese people.
